Hiring a wedding planner is always a good idea, whether there are just two of you or 200 of you.  Hiring a wedding planner in a foreign country is a great idea.  In most cases you won’t be able to visit your wedding location beforehand or try out the restaurant where you’re having your rehearsal dinner.  But you will want to see photographs of other events held there or see the most recent menu on offer.  You’ll also want to hear about what to expect and what to prepare for, about what to bring and what to leave at home.
